 Which Exams to Be Taken

For International students planning to study in Austria, language proficiency requirements depend largely on the language of instruction for the program they are applying to. Here’s a general overview:

English Language Proficiency Tests: TOEFL score of 80-100 is required, IELTS of 6.0 to 7.0 is needed. Some universities may have their own English language proficiency requirements, so it’s important to check the specific program’s criteria.

 

Study Duration of Bachelor and Master in Austria

In Austria, the duration of bachelor's and master's programs typically follows these general

Bachelor’s Degree- Duration: Usually 3 years (6 semesters), ECTS Credits: Requires completion of 180 ECTS credits. Structure: Includes a combination of core courses, elective courses, and often a final thesis or project.

Master’s Degree- Duration: Typically, 2 years (4 semesters) ECTS Credits: Requires completion of 120 ECTS credits. Structure: Includes advanced coursework, research, and often a master’s thesis.


Student Visa Duration for Indians

Student visas are generally associated with the program duration (which is a relief for Indian students in Austria). This can go from shorter courses (up 3 years for undergraduate and up to 2-years programs or master's program) all the way to PhD levels.

 

Post-Study Work Permit for Indians

The Indian Students who manage to successfully complete relevant degrees in Austria are now eligible to stay back in Austria after they study for 12 months. The post-study work permit can be applied for after the applicant gets a full-time job or even an internship opportunity.

 

Settlement Options in Austria

It is possible for international students to get a job in Austria after graduating with a master's degree from an Austrian university, assuming they are proficient in the German and English languages. For Red-White-Red Card for Skilled Workers permit candidate must have a job offer related to your qualification and meet certain salary threshold which can gives up to 2 years stay back in Austria.

EU Blue Card (Eligibility): You need a higher education degree and a job offer with a high salary threshold. This permit is for highly skilled workers.

Duration: Valid for up to 4 years, or the duration of your employment contract plus 3 months, whichever is shorter.
