Available intakes in France:

Types of Universities in France

There are 2 types of Universities in France higher education system that generally offers a wide range of degree programs with unique topics research path and innovative study structure.

Public Universities: At the master's level, most public universities in France do not charge foreign students tuition fees. These are the unique term fees in France, which are between €100 and €700 for covering administration and student services.

Exams and Requirements

Language Proficiency Tests:

 

  • IELTS: An overall score of 7 will be advised to apply for any French Universities or else many universities accepts 6.5 as well.  Very few universities do accept at least 6 bands overall score.
  • TOEFL: TOEFL centre-based exams are only advisable and acceptable with a best score ranging between (90-100) is appreciated
  • Language Exams: The French Language levels are from A1 to C2, where in the Basic Levels are A1 & A2 followed by the Intermediate levels like B1 & B2 and C1 & C2 are the advanced Levels. These tests check how well you can read, write, speak, and listen French Language. Very few universities may ask for these French certifications in order to study, work, or live in a France. Popular French Tests are DELF (Le Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) - DELF is carried for levels A1 – B2, DALF (Le Diplôme Approfondi de Langue FrCLBançaise) - DALF is handled for levels C1 and C2. The exam fee for French Language exams will vary from €100 to €200 (approximately 9000 to 19000 INR Including taxes).
  • Medium of Instruction: A Medium of Instruction from the student bachelor degree college on College Letter head signed and stamped by his faculty members stating that the bachelor education was held in English Medium

Standardized Tests:

 GRE: Only required for some technical and scientific programs.

  • GMAT: Must be taken to get into most public university MBA programs.

 

Work Experience:

  • 1 Year Work Experience – optional (Some Universities may ask for MBA Programs)     
  • GAP Justification (If any gap in Educational Background)  

 

 

Part-Time Study Options

 

Indian students can work part-time for up to 20 Hours/ Week (964 Hours/Annum). Hourly income usually between €10 to €12 an hour, but it depends on the job and where it is.

Cost of Living:

 

A student from India who wishes to study in France must have sufficient funds like 9600 Euros/Anum or 800€/Month if he is staying Outside Paris to cover his food, Accommodation, Transportation and Other miscellaneous expenses. If he is staying in Paris then he needs to have 12000 €/ Annum or 1000 Euros as Paris is the expensive place to stay.

 

Financial Documents Required to Apply for Visa from India:

To Apply for Visa from India, then a student can produce either of the following documents to meet the visa requirements

  • Savings (28 Days Old funds) & 3 Months Bank Statement
  • Fixed deposits without having lien against deposit and advisable if its at least 1 month old

Visa Fee and Time for Visa Approval for Indian Students:

 

Campus France is a service that helps Indian students to apply for admission in French Universities. As the process goes, you have to create a Campus France account and provide them with your academic records as well as appear for an interview conducted by their representatives in order to send forward. After having been accepted in a university, students file their visa application via Campus France. The Campus France processing fee is around INR 18,000. The fees for application processing, document verification and interview. Now, further students can move to France for their study if they get a visa.

After Campus France Interview is done then the final step is dropping the visa at VFS which will cost 99 Euros around 9500 Rupees to get visa approval in 2-3 weeks of time.

Post Study Work Permit Visa For Indian Students

After completing their studies, Indian students are eligible to apply for the Temporary Resident Permit (APS) which allows them to stay in France. They can search for a job here and stay either 12 months or up to 24 additional months depending on their completion of degree from bachelors/masters(level1/level2). When they land a job, they are eligible for the long-term work visa which then allows them to continue working and residing in France.

  1. CDD (Temporary)

 

For France, the CDD visa is an authorization to be employed under a temporary (fixed term) contract lasting between several months and up to 2 years. It is a work visa for French territories that allows Indian nationals to take up employment in France subject to compliance with the conditions stipulated in the employer and contract. There are possible visa renewal or long-term stay change options depending on job availability once the CDD has ended.

  1. CDI (Lifetime Job Contract)

 

CDI (Permanent contract without a predetermined end date in France) It is the most stable of job contracts, allowing for full benefits including health insurance and paid leave; in some cases, even unemployment protection. Terminating a CDI terminates that right for the employee, but employers need to follow strict legal steps in terminating one.
